Here is the decision. Risk-free means we intend to treat people fairly, return money that has not legitimately been earned, incurred, committed, or consumed by providing the service, and not hold anyone hostage. It does not mean legitimate work and costs already incurred disappear.
1. What risk-free means
We want happy customers. That includes people who ultimately decide that Jamie Lynn Services is not a good fit.
We are not trying to trap people, hold customers hostage, manufacture expenses, invent work, or keep money we did not earn. When an engagement cannot continue, our intention is to return what has not legitimately been earned, incurred, committed, or consumed by providing the client’s service.
At the same time, Jamie Lynn Services will not intentionally take a loss on legitimate professional work, operational work, legal review, insurance review, background or conflict review, research, implementation, onboarding, infrastructure, licensing, hardware, materials, third-party services, professional services, or other legitimate costs and commitments required to provide the service.
2. The consultation
There is a single path into a JLS engagement: the consultation fee. It secures consultation time and starts the client relationship.
You choose three times that work for you. As scheduling allows, Jamie Lynn Services confirms a time. The fee buys access to time with someone who can actually answer the question, not a sales call designed to wear down a decision.
If the conversation leads to an engagement, the consultation fee is credited in full against the service the client actually purchases. If a different JLS service turns out to be more appropriate, the credit follows the actual engagement. We do not collect it twice.
3. Questions before payment
If you are still deciding whether you want to work with us, do not pay the consultation fee yet. Email Jamie Lynn Services first.
If you want to speak with a salesperson, request that in the email. Jamie Lynn Services will determine the appropriate person to respond, and someone will reach out.
If you know about anything that could affect eligibility or create a conflict, disclose it before paying. Relevant information may include your industry, geographic market, requested product or service, applicable regulators, known professional or compliance history, potential conflicts of interest, or another matter you reasonably believe could affect our ability to accept the engagement.
4. Why the consultation gate exists
The fee exists so nobody has to be talked into anything, including by us. It protects time for customers who have already committed and creates a deliberate pause before either side spends more time or resources on the question.
We would rather you qualify yourself. No nurture sequence, pressure campaign, or chasing you into a decision is part of this process.
5. Once you pay, you are our client
When you pay the consultation fee, you are our client. Period.
Payment means you intend to move forward and authorize Jamie Lynn Services to begin the consultation and associated client-onboarding work. Once enough information exists to perform it, research and engagement-specific review may begin as scheduling allows.
You paid us to get started, so we get started. The consultation payment does not mean the customer has purchased every product or service discussed. It means the client relationship and authorized beginning work have started.
6. Professional, legal, insurance, and conflict review
The first action after payment is to establish the professional legal review for the client account. Jamie Lynn Services provides its attorney with the retainer required to begin the professional background and conflict review and gets that work onto the attorney’s calendar.
Jamie Lynn Services cannot control the attorney’s calendar. The review may happen before or after the consultation and may take several days.
The purpose is to determine whether the client is an appropriate fit, whether the requested product or service fits the client’s actual need, whether a conflict of interest prevents the engagement, and whether a professional, regulatory, legal, insurance, or derogatory issue excludes the client from the requested service.
In some circumstances, an insurer may require additional review by its own attorney or another professional after Jamie Lynn Services’ attorney completes the initial review. Additional professional, legal, insurance, regulatory, or engagement-specific review may create additional charges associated with the engagement. Where possible, we disclose an additional requirement before additional work proceeds.
7. Help us identify known issues early
Jamie Lynn Services acts in good faith based on the information available to it. If a prospective customer knows information that could materially affect the engagement, that information should be disclosed before paying.
Early disclosure may allow Jamie Lynn Services and its attorney to identify an issue before a full professional background review is required. Some conflicts cannot be discovered until the professional review occurs.
8. If we are not a good fit
If you pay the consultation fee and it becomes clear that Jamie Lynn Services is not the right fit for your situation, we will say so and wish you well.
We are not going to hold you hostage. There is no quiet obligation designed to make leaving expensive, and we will not keep money for work we did not do.
Where a cost has genuinely been incurred while providing your service, that is a different matter. The fee itself is not a trap, and a hard line on how we start is not the same as a hard line on how we finish.
9. Unexpected confidential conflicts
Sometimes an initial review clears and a later review discovers something that prevents the relationship from continuing. Possible issues include conflicts of interest, insurance restrictions, regulatory conflicts, professional concerns, overlapping regulated interests, or circumstances that were not known when the customer paid.
A conflict or prohibition may involve another client, another regulated relationship, an insurer, counsel, a regulator, or information Jamie Lynn Services is legally, professionally, contractually, or ethically unable to disclose.
If we can explain it, we will. If we cannot disclose something, we will tell you that we cannot disclose it rather than inventing an explanation. The confidentiality we protect for existing clients is the same confidentiality we protect for a new client.
10. Legitimate work and costs already incurred
Some work begins before the finish. Jamie Lynn Services may incur legitimate costs while providing the client’s service, including:
- background, legal, insurance, conflict, or business verification;
- hardware, materials, licensing, infrastructure, storage, and third-party services;
- project-specific research, implementation, onboarding, and chargeable work; and
- professional services and other direct project expenses actually incurred for the engagement.
These are costs Jamie Lynn Services incurs while providing the paid service. They are not money spent on the customer’s behalf. Once a cost has actually been incurred for an engagement, JLS cannot necessarily recover it simply because the customer later decides to cancel.
11. Responsibility for information and action
If Jamie Lynn Services had information it should have acted on, missed something it reasonably should have caught, or acted prematurely, we will take responsibility for our part.
If the client directs Jamie Lynn Services to proceed and we act in good faith on the information available, a later discovery outside our knowledge or control does not erase legitimate work and costs already incurred.
12. Authorization and continuing work
Payment of the consultation fee authorizes Jamie Lynn Services to begin the client relationship and associated work.
Later verbal authorization such as “go ahead,” “send the invoice,” “start onboarding,” or equivalent direction further confirms the existing authorization to continue chargeable work.
Jamie Lynn Services may continue performing authorized work while a formal written agreement is being prepared. The absence of the final signed agreement during that period does not mean we treat the paying customer as less than a client. We assume mutual good faith.
13. Contracts and withdrawal
Unless a signed agreement says otherwise, Jamie Lynn Services signed contracts include a thirty-day withdrawal period. If a customer becomes uncomfortable with the direction during the applicable withdrawal period, the customer should say so.
Legitimate work already performed and legitimate costs or commitments already incurred still matter. After the applicable withdrawal period, or another commitment point expressly stated in the customer’s agreement, Jamie Lynn Services may have made external or operational commitments that cannot simply be undone.
Examples may include infrastructure, storage, professional services, licensing, hardware, dedicated computing resources, outside providers, or other requirements of the engagement. Some custom work has significant front-loaded costs even when the customer pays across a longer contract term.
Contracts eventually become commitments because Jamie Lynn Services also has to make commitments to provide the service—not because we want to trap customers.
14. Client diligence is an asset
Jamie Lynn Services may perform background, business, legal, insurance, or other diligence before or during certain engagements. That review is not intended as an arbitrary barrier.
JLS documents, audits, and in some cases attests to how an operation actually runs. Our professional relationships, insurance relationships, legal relationships, processes, documentation, and reputation may stand alongside a client’s organization. Responsible diligence protects Jamie Lynn Services, every existing client, and every new client in that network.
15. The written agreement controls
Nothing on this page replaces the terms that actually govern an engagement. Products, services, custom builds, hardware purchases, subscriptions, or projects may have their own written agreement.
Written terms may establish deposits, cancellation periods, milestones, subscription obligations, hardware commitments, and custom work already performed. If you are unsure what portion of a proposed engagement would be refundable, ask before you purchase. We would rather answer it now than argue about it later.
16. Our position
Risk-free means we are going to be reasonable people. We intend to return money that has not legitimately been earned, incurred, committed, or consumed by providing the client’s service. We will not intentionally keep money we did not earn, and we will not pretend legitimate work, professional review, expenses, or commitments did not happen.
No tricks. No gotchas. Just two businesses trying to deal fairly with each other.
