Ethics | Jamie Lynn Services

01 / Legal / Ethics

Ethics are demonstrated by decisions.
Not stated in a policy.

What we build, how we treat people, what we claim, whose information we protect, and which relationships we are willing to accept.

The people we work with matter. So does what we are willing to say about our own products.

02 Principles

Make the decision reviewable.

We want clients to know that being part of the Jamie Lynn Services network means being surrounded by organizations we are comfortable standing beside.

Technology can assist people. It does not remove human responsibility.
01

Include with dignity.

Clients, applicants, partners, students, vendors, and community members should be treated with dignity and respect. Different experiences and perspectives make systems and decisions stronger.

02

Review the relationship.

Background, legal, insurance, business, or other diligence helps JLS understand the people and organizations with whom it establishes relationships and helps protect other clients from avoidable exposure.

03

Claim only what we can support.

We distinguish what has been demonstrated, what research supports, what evidence suggests, what remains under development, and what is still unknown.

04

Protect the context.

Access to information should have a reason. We pay attention to confidentiality, appropriate access, separation of information, and responsible handling of client material.

Technology can assist people. It does not remove human responsibility.

03 Claim discipline

We publish the limits of our own architecture.

This is the easiest ethics commitment to state and the hardest to keep, so it is worth being specific about what it means in practice.

Our own research papers decline to make performance claims for our own products. They name Triple Tri-Node directly and then state that the architecture is a hypothesis about structured diversity rather than a proven accuracy mechanism.

We say on product pages that air gap and cloud gap are deployment patterns, not regulatory outcomes. We say that a documentation set with no operating evidence is the most common condition we find. We say that two trees do not mathematically offset a flight.

None of that is good marketing. It is the only way a claim means anything when we do make one.

// CLAIM STATES WE DISTINGUISH
Demonstrated — we have shown it
Supported — research backs it
Suggested — evidence points there
Developing — not finished
Unknown — we do not know yet
A confident answer nobody can trace is an answer nobody can defend. That applies to our own sales pages as much as it applies to the systems we build.

04 What we decline

Saying no is part of the standard.

An ethics page that only lists aspirations is a marketing document. Here is where we actually stop.

  • WE WILL NOT SELL LOCK-INIf the value depends on a customer being unable to leave, it was never value.
  • WE WILL NOT CLAIM COMPLIANCEWe build operating structure. Regulators, insurers, and certifying bodies determine their own requirements.
  • WE WILL NOT REMOVE THE HUMANConsequential decisions stay with accountable people, in every product we build.
  • WE WILL NOT SHIFT BELIEFS FOR DOLLARSAlignment is a condition of the relationship, not a term to renegotiate later.

05 Community

Contribute something useful.

Ethical business includes contributing beyond the transaction when a practical contribution can help.

01 / EDUCATION

Make room for learning.

Education, student, internship, and research work creates a practical connection between organizations and the people building their future.

02 / RESEARCH

Keep the evidence.

Research and documentation should make uncertainty, disagreement, and limitations visible instead of hiding them behind confident language.

03 / HIADO

Build the network.

Our community-compute and HIADO direction is part of the work we are developing with appropriate partners. It is still being validated; it is not a proven program.

Good systems should make good conduct easier.

// THE STANDARD WE ARE TRYING TO MEET

Jamie Lynn Services / ethics

Conduct is part of the system.

We are building Jamie Lynn Services around responsible decisions, useful relationships, and work that remains open to review.
